CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AND LATE NIGHT SHOPPING - TRAVEL BY TRAIN (FRIDAY 24 NOVEMBER)
Booking opened on Monday (30 October) for Wensleydale Railway’s evening excursion train to Bedale for the annual Christmas Lights event on Friday 24 November. Mulled wine will be served on the train from Redmire, Leyburn and Finghall. Bedale shops will remain open until 8 pm for late-night shopping.
Rail tickets are £5 return from Redmire and Leyburn (child £2.50), £3 from Finghall (child £1.50) including mulled wine and soft drinks on the journey to Bedale. The train departs Redmire at 5.35 pm, Leyburn at 5.48 pm and Finghall 6.02 pm, arriving Bedale at 6.21 pm. The return train will depart Bedale at 8.15 pm. “We are very grateful to Bedale Chamber of Trade and Leyburn Tourist Information Centre for their co-operation in making the arrangements for this special event,” says Mrs. Ruth Annison, chairman of Wensleydale Railway. “It will provide a seasonal outing for people from Upper Wensleydale without having to travel too far from home.”
Note: Throughout November, Wensleydale Railway’s scheduled trains run on Saturdays and Sundays only, departing Leeming Bar at 10.35, 12.35 and 14.35 and departing Redmire 11.35, 13.35 and 15.35 (24 hour clock). Bookings are also being taken for Santa Specials in December.
