We have another full programme of guided walks for 2009. The usual arrangement is that the walk leader meets passengers at either Leyburn or Redmire (depending on the particular route) off the 09:50 train from Leeming Bar (departs Bedale 09:56, Finghall 10:15 and Leyburn 10:29, arriving at Redmire 10:44).
Walks from Leyburn start at 10:30 and walks from Redmire start at 10.45.
Walks last 3-4 hours, ending in either Redmire or Leyburn, from where you can catch the 15:50 train from Redmire (16:03 from Leyburn) back to your starting point. We typically cover 5-7 miles and suitable clothing and footwear is essential. Please bring your own refreshments, especially drinks. Leyburn station teabar is open on all train running days.
On limited occasions, the walk includes travel on a local or vintage bus (fare payable; free to Senior Citizens with valid bus pass). All these leisure walks include some walking uphill and downhill and require reasonable fitness but few are described as ‘strenuous’.
No booking is required for these walks unless indicated.

Normally no charge is made for Wensleydale Railway passengers with same-day railway tickets. A £3 charge is made for others.

Walks in Wensleydale during 2009
Tuesday 19 May: (6 miles) Alight at Redmire for a Wild Flower Walk led by members of the Yoredale Natural History Society. Walk via remote Redmire church on field paths and through woodland to Bolton Hall, Lords Bridge and along the riverside to Wensley and the Old Glebe Field. Return to Leyburn station tearoom for the return train.

Thursday 28 May: Swaledale Festival walk
Friday 29 May: (6 miles) Alight at Redmire; walk to Castle Bolton; service bus to Woodhall; walk back via Aysgarth Falls to Redmire.
Friday 12 June (5 miles) Alight at Redmire for a summertime walk via Bolton Castle and through Freeholders Wood to Aysgarth Falls for pre-booked barbecue lunch and bus back to Redmire.

Tuesday 30 June (4 miles) Alight at Redmire and catch connecting Vintage bus to Hawes for Circular Walk via Sedbusk, Simonstone and Hardraw to Hawes for return by Vintage bus to Redmire station.
Friday 10 July (6 miles) Alight at Redmire and catch connecting Vintage bus to Bainbridge for Circular walk to Semerwater (eat lunch by the lake), Countersett and Bainbridge for return by Vintage bus to Redmire station.
Wednesday 22 July (6 miles) Alight from the steam train at Redmire and enjoy views from the Ridge Walk and Leyburn Shawl back to Leyburn station.
Yorkshire Day, Saturday 1 August: (6 miles) Alight from the steam train at Leyburn for Yorkshire Pudding Walk, Route No 1 to Redmire (pre-booked pub lunch).

Wednesday 19 August (5 miles) Alight from the steam train at Leyburn for a Circular Walk via Bellerby to Quarry Lake and Harmby Waterfall and return to Leyburn station tearoom.
Sunday 13 September (6 miles) Alight at Redmire and catch connecting Vintage bus to Carperby for walk to Askrigg and vintage bus back to Redmire station.
Thursday 29 September: Richmond Festival walk
Saturday 21 November (5 miles) Alight at Redmire for an autumnal walk via Bolton Castle and through Freeholders Wood to Aysgarth Falls for pre-booked hot festive lunch and bus back to Redmire.

CHRISTMAS GUIDED WALKS PROGRAMME
There will be a 5 mile walk every day from Boxing Day (26 December) to 31 December 2009. On New Year's Day (1 January 2010), there will be guided walks from both Leyburn at 10.30 (4 miles) and from Redmire at 10.45 (8 miles).
