ENJOY A STEAM RIDE WITH THOMAS OVER HALF TERM The first weekend of half term will bring Wensleydale Railway’s youngest passengers and their families to enjoy a Day Out With Thomas. Thomas will be visiting Leeming Bar and Bedale stations on Saturday and Sunday 20 and 21 October. There will be a chance to meet Thomas and take photographs as he puffs patiently at the platform before setting off on each journey. Sir Topham Hatt, the Fat Controller, will be on hand to see that all goes well and to award certificates of travel to children as they alight from their half-hour journey on the train pulled by Thomas. The Troublesome Trucks and Daisy the DMU will also be working over the weekend. Bertie the Bus will be providing Park and Ride services all weekend from the special car park near McDonalds (beside the A1 northbound access road at Leeming Bar). Ticket prices for the DOWT event include car park (or free travel on WR’s train service from Redmire, Leyburn, Finghall and Bedale if booked in advance), a ride on the vintage bus, a train ride with Thomas, free family entertainment including puppet show and face painting and Certificate of Travel. Advance booking is recommended for timed tickets and to avoid queues. Christopher Awdry (son of the famous author) is a patron of the Wensleydale Railway. He has written two books about the line, The Chips Express and Heave Ho, Hamish, which will be on sale at the railway carriage shop at Leeming Bar over the weekend. To book tickets for Day Out With Thomas, phone 08454 50 54 74 or print out the booking form on our website www.wensleydalerailway.com. |
