DRIVER EXPERIENCE DAYS
Group bookings qualify for £100 saving!

When a group of four friends or colleagues get together to book for Wensleydale Railway’s new Driver Experience day, they can save £100 (£25 each).

“Taking individual enquiries and bookings is quite time-consuming,” says Mrs Ruth Annison, WR’s chairman.  “However, if one person books and pays before the end of March for four people to take the course together before the end of June, there is a saving in various administration costs which we are passing on to our customers.”

WR’s Driver Experience has proved very popular since it was launched just before Christmas with Mrs Caroline Gardner (Swinithwaite) and Mrs Anne Guy (Bishopdale) amongst the enthusiastic pioneer trainees.

Driver Experience days start with a welcome breakfast, followed by the all-important safety briefing, theory session and on-board practical instruction, before two sessions of driving a diesel multiple unit (DMU train) on the line.  Gift Vouchers are available.

Many weekday dates are available up to the end of June for group bookings but not weekends or school holidays, when scheduled train services are running.

A booking for one person on a Driver Experience day is £225 (£200 for members of the Wensleydale Railway Association), from a selected list of dates. This is reduced to £200/£175 respectively when four people are included in a single booking and includes refreshments, with lunch in a nearby hotel.  More details on www.wensleydalerailway.com or telephone

Meanwhile Guided Walks run every Sunday until 1 April from the Wensleydale Railway:
11 February, meet Leyburn station at 11.50 for 5-6 mile walk to Redmire; 18 February, meet Redmire station at 11.30 for 8 mile walk to Aysgarth, both walks return on train from Redmire at 3.35 pm.
