The village has two public houses, hotel accommodation and a number of specialist shops.  At Leeming Bar Services there is a motel, shop and petrol station.

Leeming Bar station is the interchange between our services and the Dales and District service 73 low floor bus link to Northallerton.

Station facilities

Tickets
You can purchase a ticket for your journey from the buffet car located on the main platform.  This is open at all times when trains are running.  Our staff will be happy to assist you with any enquiries you may have regarding our normal and special services.  In the unlikely event that the buffet car is not open you can purchase any of our full range of tickets from our on-train staff.

Bus links
The bus from Leeming Bar to Northallerton calls at all intermediate stops along the route including Morton on Swale, Ainderby Steeple, Romanby, Northallerton Railway Station and Northallerton Town Centre. We hope to introduce through ticketing soon but in the meantime purchase your ticket for the bus element of your journey from the bus driver.

Refreshments
A range of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, sweets and ice-creams are available from the Trackside Buffet Car on Platform 2 at the station. The buffet is open at all times when trains are running and is a great place to wait for your train.

Gift shop
A well stocked gift shop is provided in a lovingly restored railway carriage next to the Buffet Car.  The shop is open on rail service days and we stock a wide selection of railway and transport-related products and also souvenirs of your trip on the line.   In addition we have a number of branded items including the Thomas the Tank Engine range.

Toilets
Public toilets are provided on the platform adjacent to the main building.

Parking
Parking is available in the station yard.  At peak times additional parking is available at John H Gill's across the main road from the station.  On special event days we may operate a park and ride service from the services at the A1/A684 junction.  If this service is operating, signs will direct you.

Things to do
Leeming Bar is currently our operating centre. Rolling stock and locomotives are stored here and there is always something of interest for the railway enthusiast.  Adjacent to the station is the Simply Dutch furniture store with a wide selection of speciality home and garden furniture.  Across the main road is John H Gill's saddlery and garden furniture store.

Did you know?

Leeming Bar station was opened in 1848 by the Newcastle and Berwick Railway Company. For a number of years it was the terminus of the line from
Northallerton.

Take a look at the unusual portico to the main entrance to the old ticket office.  It is thought that this was added to the building to impress company shareholders!

The road over the level crossing was formerly the Great North Road and the gabled building in the terrace across the road from the station was the toll house.

For many years the station was surrounded by farmland, a very different outlook to the busy working area of today.
