The Wensleydale Railway runs trains between Leeming Bar (near the A1/A684 jct) and Redmire (on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park), via Bedale and Leyburn. The 17 mile trip takes approximately 50 minutes.
This is the first part of a project to restore the full 40 mile route between Northallerton (on the East Coast Main Line) and Garsdale (on the Settle-Carlisle Railway). Help us to restore the passenger service from Wensleydale to Northallerton.
Our trains are normally formed of heritage diesel railcars from the 1960s, which have large windows and a great view of the line ahead if you sit behind the driver. However, we will have steam-hauled trains every day between 18 July and 9 August, and between 13 August and 31 August (on 10, 11 and 12 August the diesel railcar service operates as usual).
Trains do not operate every day of the year. See our timetable for details of the days on which trains operate.
